The Dachstein - which has always been a place of longing for alpinists - is not "just" a mountain, but with its 2,995 metres a true mountain personality in the Austrian Alps. In 1969, the Dachstein glacier was opened up to tourists for the first time with the Dachstein Südwandbahn cable car. The reopening of the completely renovated and modernised mountain station marks the start of a new era on the Dachstein:

Just a ten-minute ride in the Dachstein panorama gondola and you are in a completely different world. A marvellous panorama as far as the eye can see and attractions such as the Dachstein suspension bridge with the Stairway to Nothingness, the Sky Walk or the Ice Palace.
